1 c. brown sugar
1 c. raisins
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
3/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter
2 c. hot water
3 c. flour
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda mixed with 1 tbsp. cold water
1 c. ground walnuts, optional

In large saucepan mix raisins, sugar, butter and spices. Add 2 cups hot water and bring to boil. Boil 5 minutes. Cool. When cool add flour and egg. Then add soda mixture and nuts. Stir well. Pour into greased tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Remove from pan and cool.
