DEEP DISH APPLE PIE WITH CANDIED
CRUST
 
6 tart apples

TOP CRUST:

1 c. cake flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. butter

Fill well greased Pyrex dish with thin slices of apples which have been peeled and cored. Mix together sugar, flour, salt and nutmeg. Work butter into dry ingredients with a pastry blender until the mixture is like coarse corn meal.

Pat mixture on top of apples to form a top crust. Bake in 325 degree oven for 1 hour.
