CANDY ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
2 sticks butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
4 c. flour
1 lb. dates, chopped
1 lb. orange sliced candy, chopped
2 c. pecans

Cream butter; add sugar, add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Add 1 cup buttermilk; beat well. Add soda to other 1/2 cup buttermilk. Add to mix with flour. Add orange slices, dates, and nuts. Line large tube pan with brown paper. Grease well and flour it. Bake in slow oven 2 1/2 hours at 275 degrees.

GLAZE: Mix 1 small can frozen orange juice and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Let stand while cake bakes. Pour over cake. Cake stays in pan until cool. This is a good cake to bake around the holidays.
