GERMAN POTATO SALAD 
10 potatoes, sliced & cooked
1/2 lb. bacon
1 onion, chopped
3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. vinegar
2/3 c. water

Cook potatoes and slice. Fry bacon until crisp. Take from skillet, brown one chopped onion in grease. Take from grease, leave about 2 tablespoons of grease in skillet. Add sugar, vinegar and water. Bring to a boil in skillet. Make paste of cornstarch and water, stir into skillet to make gravy. Pour over potatoes, onion and bacon. Put in casserole. Can be heated or reheated in oven. Can be made ahead and reheated. Serves 6 to 8.
