COTTAGE PUDDING 
Cream:

3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. butter

Sift:

2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder

Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternating with 1 cup milk.

Grease and flour 8 1/2 x 11-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve with warm sauce.

SAUCE:

1 c. sugar (brown for butterscotch, white for chocolate)
1 heaping tbsp. flour

Mix sugar and flour together. Add 2 cups boiling water and 1 tablespoon butter. Stir as water is added, so it won't lump. Cook until thickened, stirring frequently. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. For chocolate sauce add 2 tablespoons cocoa with flour and sugar.
