MARY'S CHEESE COOKIES 
1/2 lb. butter
2 c. plain flour
1/2 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
Pecan halves

Soften butter and cheese. Blend in mixer. Gradually add flour, salt and pepper. Shape into small balls and flatten by placing a pecan half on top of each cookie. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees or until slightly brown. Dough will be easier to shape into balls if placed in refrigerator a few hours after mixing. Yield 6 dozen.
