MARTHA WASHINGTON CAKE 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
4 stiff beaten egg whites

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks and vanilla; beat well. Add sifted flour, baking powder and salt alternately with milk. Fold in egg whites. Bake in tube pan lined with waxed paper. Grease sides for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
