BANANA COOKIES WITH NUTTY BUTTERCREME FILLING | |
COOKIES: 1/2 cup banana, sliced 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened 1 cup granulated sugar 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla extract NUTTY BUTTERCREME FILLING: 3 cups powdered sugar 1/3 cup butter, soft 5 tbsp. whole milk 2 tsp. vanilla extract 1/2 cups chopped walnuts Preheat oven to 350°F. For cookies: In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, butter, bananas, salt and vanilla. Beat at a low speed until mixed well. Shape cookies by the teaspoonful size balls. Place 2-inches apart on a greased cookie sheet then flatten cookies in to 1/4-inch thickness with the bottom of a drinking glass dipped in all-purpose flour. Bake at 350°F for 11 to 13 minutes then remove to wire racks after 3 minutes of cooling on the sheets. For the frosting: In a small bowl combine all the frosting ingredients and beat at medium speed until the filling is light and fluffy. Spread filling on the whole of a top of a cookie, then lightly press down with another cooled down cookie, tops together. Do this process until all cookies are used up. NOTES: Cookies should be baked on the softer side. Reasons being filling is bumpy due to the Chopped Walnuts, so you will not want to get crumbs all over and they are much better enjoyed on the softer side I do believe. Softer cookies are more palatable also, creating more saliva in the mouth depending on the recipe ingredients. So they are much easier on the enamel of your teeth. You could also or instead add a Vanilla bean flavoring. It would change the appearance of the cookie, so if you choose to add the Vanilla Bean flavoring I would add it to the Buttercreme instead. It would just be all around a prettier version of a original recipe. Chocolate slivers might go nicely, because we all know and love if you have ever tried them Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins. But there you go with making sure you give your teeth a good brushing before bed. I have 2 different mouth washes I prefer to use. The antibacterial before brush and the Crest Pro health after. I can always count on the Crest to leave my teeth with a squeaky clean tooth effect. And A nice and clean along the gumline feeling. Don't forget to floss if you get a chance. Plackers or the good old fashioned waxed string kind works fine just as well. I find most people have certainly taken the quick route of doing things lately. Plackers are a quick route. Dental floss is less expensive and less of a waste. Although they can be reused. Getting the kiddos to brush and floss can be bothersome, but as long as you find your groove and get into a habit of it, they will appreciate all you have taught them (in time at least). I have an automatic toothbrush that works well. It would work well for my household if my daughter was back at home and little again. But life doesn't work that way, does it? I cannot reverse the time I have lost with her so make sure you make every moment that you possibly can count my friends. Life is so short! Please make sure to try to enjoy EVERY MOMENT. I'm trying to get better at this. And I find my imagination is ALWAYS running away with me, but that's what I'm living for. Making moments count. Submitted by: Tasteables by Jennifer L Newton |
