BERRY COBBLER 
1/4 c. soft butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. blackberries or raspberries
1 c. berry juice

Cream together until light and fluffy the butter, sugar, and egg. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix alternately with 1/2 cup milk, dry mixture, with sugar-shortening mixture. Beat until smooth. Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar over berries.

Pour batter into 11 1/2 x 7 1/2 inch greased pan or 10-inch casserole. Spoon berries over batter and pour berry juice over top. Bake 45 minutes in 375 degree oven. During baking, the fruit and juice will go to bottom and a cake-like layer forms on top. Serves 6. Serve with cream.
