BERRY COBBLER 
4 c. berries (boysenberries, raspberries, etc.)
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. boiling water

Sprinkle berries with 1/4 cup sugar and let stand 30 minutes. Cream remaining sugar, shortening and milk. Add dry ingredients and place in a greased, 9 x 13- inch pan. Pour berries over these ingredients and dot top with butter. Pour on boiling water last. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours, or until center bubbles. Add more sugar if berries are tart.
