RED CABBAGE WITH APPLES 
2 tart red apples, sliced
3 tbsp. butter
1 med. head red cabbage, coarsely shredded, about 8 c.
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. red vinegar
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Cook and stir apples in butter in Dutch oven over medium heat 5 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer until cabbage is tender, 35-40 minutes. Serves 6.
