STUFFED FRENCH BREAD | |
1 loaf French bread 1/2 lb. lean ground beef 1/2 lb. ground pork sausage 1/2 c. finely chopped onion 1/2 c. finely chopped bell pepper 2 eggs, beaten 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. black pepper 1 tsp. garlic powder 1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese Cut bread in half; hollow out insides with a spoon or your hand. Be careful not to go through to outside of crust. Set aside bread and save bread crumbs in separate bowl. Brown together ground beef, sausage, onion and bell pepper. Drain off meat drippings. Mix with bread crumbs and add in the eggs, salt, pepper, garlic powder and Parmesan cheese. Mix thoroughly and stuff into hollowed out loaf. Butt ends together and place on lightly greased baking sheet. Brush tops with melted butter and additional garlic, if desired. Heat in 325 degree oven for about 20 minutes. |
