MICROWAVE: ITALIAN MEAT SAUCE
1 c. onion, chopped
1/2 c. green pepper, chopped
1 tbsp. olive or vegetable oil
1 lb. ground beef, crumbled
1 lb. bulk sausage, crumbled
2 (16 oz.) cans tomato sauce
1 (16 oz.) can whole tomatoes, cut up
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
2 tsp. Italian seasoning
2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. garlic powder

Makes 2 quarts. In a 3 quart casserole, place the onion, green pepper and olive oil. Cover. Microwave at High for 3 to 6 minutes or until vegetables are tender, stirring once during cooking time. Add the ground beef and Italian sausage. Mix well. Microwave at High for 6 to 11 minutes, or until the meat is no longer pink, stirring to break apart once or twice during cooking time. Drain. Add remaining ingredients, stirring to combine. Microwave at High for 7 to 15 minutes, or until the mixture is hot and flavors are blended. If desired, serve sauce with hot cooked noodles, or freeze in containers for future use. Total cooking time: 16 to 32 minutes.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
