MONK'S HUSH PUPPIES 
1 (2 lb.) bag yellow cornmeal
1 c. flour
1 med. to large onion, finely chopped
1 egg
1 can beer
1 can creamed corn (optional)
Jalapeno peppers, chopped to taste, optional
Black pepper to taste
Vegetable oil (enough to deep fry the hush puppies)

Mix all ingredients. Drop by teaspoonsful into hot oil. Fry until floating on top of the oil and golden brown. If you are deep frying fish, try cooking them with the fish. The flavor is wonderful.
