BANANA SPLIT CAKE 
2 c. crushed vanilla wafers
1 stick butter, melted
2 sticks butter, softened
1 (1 lb.) box confectioners' sugar
2 stiffly beaten egg whites
1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple, well drained
3-4 bananas, sliced thinly
8 oz. whipped cream or Cool Whip
Maraschino cherries

1ST LAYER: Mix wafer crumbs and one stick of butter; spread in large cake pan.

2ND LAYER: Mix 2 sticks butter and sugar thoroughly. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites and pour over wafer crumb mixture.

3RD LAYER: Pour well drained pineapple over above mixture.

4TH LAYER: Add layer sliced bananas, whipped cream or Cool Whip. Sprinkle with cut-up cherries and nuts.

Refrigerate overnight or until very cold. Freezes beautifully - even with bananas. Good served partially frozen. (Use regular butter). This is a very rich and large cake. Serves 20.
