RED CHOCOLATE CAKE | |
1/2 c. Crisco 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs 4 tbsp. cocoa 2 tbsp. hot coffee 1 bottle red food coloring 1 7/8 c. flour (2 c. minus 2 tbsp.) 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. sour milk (buttermilk) 1 tsp. vanilla Cream shortening, add sugar gradually and cream until fluffy. Blend in the well beaten eggs. Mix cocoa, red food color and hot coffee together to form a smooth paste. Add 1/2 of flour mixture, mix, then add 1/2 of milk. Mix, add rest of flour; mix. Add last of milk and mix. Line pans with wax paper. Bake at 350 degrees approximately 1/2 hour. |
