BUTTERMILK BISCUITS 
3 c. sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salttbsp. sugar
1/3 c. plus 2 tbsp. shortening
1 1/2 c. buttermilk

Cut shortening into dry ingredients until the texture of coarse meal. Make a well in the center. Pour in buttermilk; stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn out on floured surface; knead lightly. Roll and cut out. Oil pan and turn biscuits when placing pan. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes.
