BUTTERMILK BISCUITS
3 c. self-rising flour
1 c. shortening
Buttermilk

Combine flour and solid shortening; mix with hands until mixture looks like corn meal. Add a little buttermilk at a time, mix until you have a good stiff dough. Turn onto a floured towel or floured wax paper. Knead just enough to roll out. Cut out biscuits. Place on a greased baking pan. Bake at 450 degrees until biscuits rise. Brush with butter and brown. (Grease pan with solid shortening.)
