BUTTERMILK BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix flour, shortening, baking soda and baking powder together in large bowl. Add buttermilk and mix. Knead briefly and pat out on counter 1 inch thick (do not roll out). Using a knife or the top of a drinking glass, cut dough into small circles, and place them on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 30 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 9-10 biscuits.
