BUTTERMILK BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. shortening
Scant 3/4 c. buttermilk

Mix dry ingredients. Cut in shortening with blending tool until pellets are size of peas. Form. Add buttermilk, mix thoroughly with fork. Knead with hand. Dough is right consistency when you can literally clean the bowl with the dough. Pat or roll out 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. Cut out biscuits with cookie donut cutter. Place on heavy greased baking sheet. Bake in preheated 475 degree oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until done.
