BUTTERMILK BISCUITS | |
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. 1 c. + 2 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. baking soda Pinch of salt 2 tbsp. shortening Cut shortening into dry ingredients. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk. Stir with fork and don't over mix. Pat out dough on floured surface to 1/2 inch thick. Cut biscuits out with a drinking glass. Melt 2 tablespoons shortening in iron frying pan. Add biscuits to pan, turn so shortening is on both sides. Bake in frying pan 10 minutes at 500 degrees. |
