CHOCOLATE FRENCH SILK PIE 
2 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. pecan pieces
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat egg whites until foamy. Add salt and cream of tartar. Add sugar gradually and beat until stiff. Fold in pecans and vanilla. Grease an 8 inch pie pan with butter. Arrange as crust. Bake at 300 degrees for 55 minutes or until golden brown. Fill with the following: 1 stick butter 2/3 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 pt. whipping cream Grated chocolate

Melt chocolate and let cool. Cream butter and add sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating 5 minutes after each addition. Add chocolate and vanilla; blend until color is uniform. Put into pie shell. Chill overnight. When served, top with whipped cream and grated chocolate.
