CALICO BEANS | |
6 slices bacon 1 lb. ground beef 1 onion, chopped 1/2 c. catsup 1 tsp. salt 1/2 c. packed brown sugar 1 tsp. dry mustard 2 tsp. vinegar 1 (16 oz.) can pork and beans 1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans, drained 1 (16 oz.) can Lucks large white lima beans, or navy beans Cook bacon, drain on paper towel. Cook beef in fat from bacon. Add onions and cook until tender. Combine beef, onions, catsup, salt, bacon (crumbled), sugar, mustard and vinegar in 3 quart baking dish. Add the beans, stirring gently, and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. For best results, use crock pot. Cook bacon and ground beef as above. Mix all together gently in crock pot and cook on low heat for several hours or on lowest heat all day. |
