BASIC HAM & BEAN SOUP 
1 lb. Navy beans
1 to 2 lbs. ham & bone
1 tbsp. celery seed
1 c. onion, diced
4 qts. water

Soak beans overnight. Bring water to a boil. Add all ingredients and cook over low flame for 1 to 2 hours. Remove ham bone and dice up any meat remaining on the bone; return meat to soup.
