BEEF STEW - ORIENTAL 
1 lb. stew meat
1 1/2 c. hot water
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 garlic clove or minced garlic (optional)
1 c. carrots, sliced
1 c. celery, sliced
1 c. mushrooms
1/4 c. cold water
2 tbsp. cornstarch
Parmesan cheese
Rice, cooked

Season and brown meat. Add hot water, soy sauce and garlic. Cover and simmer 45 minutes. Add vegetables; cover, cook another 20 minutes. Thicken with the cornstarch mixture. Serve over rice. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
