KEEMA MATAR (CHOPPED MEAT WITH
PEAS)
 
1 1/2 lb. ground lamb
1 tbsp. minced garlic
2 tbsp. curry powder
1 cinnamon stick
1 tsp. minced fresh ginger root or 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen peas

Saute meat in skillet, chopping and turning to break it up. As soon as pan becomes moist, add all other ingredients except peas. Stir and cook until meat is done, keeping it crumbly, not cooked. Spoon off excess oil. Add peas and cook and stir until just thawed and heated through.

Serve with cooked rice or heated tortillas.

This is a North Indian dish.
