CANDIED FRUIT BARS 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
3 eggs
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. raisins

Cream sugar and shortening until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Blend in lemon juice and vanilla. Sift flour and salt together. Gradually add flour mixture to creamed mixture, beat for 2 minutes on medium speed.

Stir in nuts and raisins. Pour into greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes, cut into diamond shapes.
