1 c. butter
1 c. powdered sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg with 1/2 cup flour and beat well. Add vanilla and the remaining flour. Mix well until smooth and put through cookie press onto cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees until a light brown. These keep well. Yield 4 dozen cookies.

Note: May also be used for cut out cookies. Can be decorated with sugar crystals, etc. before putting in oven.
