PEANUT BUTTER BROWNIES | |
2 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate 1/3 c. plus 1 tbsp. peanut butter, divided 1/4 c. butter, softened 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar 2 eggs 1/4 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla extract 3/4 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. semi-sweet or milk chocolate morsels 1/2 c. peanut halves Combine unsweetened chocolate squares and 1/3 cup peanut butter in a heavy saucepan; cook over low heat, stirring frequently until melted. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add milk and vanilla, beating well. Combine flour, baking powder and salt, gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in reserved chocolate mixture, blending well. Pour mixture into a lightly greased 9x9x2 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out almost clean. Combine chocolate morsels and remaining 1 tbsp. peanut butter in a small saucepan; cook over low heat, stirring constantly until melted. Spread over warm bars; sprinkle with peanuts and cut into squares. Yield: 16-18 brownies. |
