MEAT SAUCE 
1 lb. extra lean chopped meat
1 lg. onion
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 green pepper
28 oz. can tomatoes
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. basil
Salt & pepper to taste

Brown the first four ingredients (if you use extra lean there should be no fat to pour off). Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat immediately and simmer, uncovered, for about an hour or until sauce reaches desired consistency. You may add a small amount of water to taste or 1/4 cup dry red wine, during cooking.

Makes 6 servings. 125 calories each. With 1 cup cooked pasta = 325 calories.
