LEMON LOAF 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
Grated rind & juice of 1 lemon

Cream shortening with 1 cup sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder and add alternately with milk. Put in loaf pan which has been greased and lined with wax paper. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Mix lemon rind and juice with remaining 1/2 cup sugar and spoon over bread as soon as it is taken from the oven.
