RAISIN FILLED COOKIES 
Cream 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup shortening. Add 1 well-beaten egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Sift together 3 1/2 cups flour, 3 teaspoons baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Add to first mixture alternately with 1/2 cup sweet milk. Roll out thin. Cut into cookies with round cookie cutter.

FILLING:

3/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. flour
1 c. boiling water
1 c. chopped raisins
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Add a little butter and salt. Cook until thick. Cool and spread between cookies, pinch edges together. Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown.
