SWISS STEAK MADE WITH GROUND
BEEF
 
1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1 sliced onion
1 beef bouillon cube
1/2 c. stewed tomatoes
2 or 3 slices carrots

Make about 8 irregular shaped patties from ground beef. Make 3/4 inch thick to resemble pieces of steak. Flour both sides of meat and salt and pepper as desired. Brown in a small amount of shortening in Dutch oven and drain off excess grease. Add onion, bouillon cube and enough water to cook slowly for about 1 1/2 hours. Add tomatoes and carrots, if desired. Thicken broth when cooking time is done.
