HOMEMADE CROUTONS 
6 slices French bread, crust removed
1/4 c. butter

Cut bread slices into 1/2 inch cubes. Melt butter in a large skillet, add bread cubes and toss to coat. Spread bread cubes on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes or until crisp, stirring every 5 minutes. Store in an airtight container at room temperature up to 1 week. Freeze up to 1 month.

For Herbed Croutons: Add 1 teaspoon oregano, 1 teaspoon basil and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder to the melted butter; toss with bread cubes. Yield about 2 cups.
