BUFFALO WING SAUCES
The following ingredients will make you all the Buffalo Wing Sauces you'll ever need!

FRANK'S® Red Hot Sauce
FRANK'S® Xtra hot Sauce
white vinegar
butter
garlic powder
Dave's Insanity sauce

Here are a variety of Buffalo and Hot Wing Recipes to suit your needs. Vinegar can be added to any of these recipes if you are a vinegar lover, but it is not needed if you don't care for it. All recipes call for butter and of course it must be melted. All recipes involve mixing all ingredients together to a smooth consistency.

MILD/MEDIUM WINGS:

1/3 cup FRANK'S® Red Hot Sauce
1/3 cup butter
1-2 tbsp. vinegar (optional)

HOT WINGS:

1/3 cup FRANK'S® Xtra Hot Sauce
1/4 cup butter (optional)
1-2 tbsp. vinegar (optional)

REALLY HOT WINGS:

1/3 cup FRANK'S® Xtra Hot Sauce
1/4 cup butter
1/2 to 1 tsp. Dave's Insanity Sauce
1-2 tbsp. vinegar (optional)

For Garlic Wings, add 1 teaspoon of garlic powder to any of the above recipes.

To make the wings, deep fry them until golden brown and slightly crispy. Put the sauce into a Tupperware container or freezer bag. Add the wings, and shake them in the sauce. Remove them and eat! You can use any typical blue cheese or Ranch dressing to dip the wings in.

AVOID using sauces such as Tabasco. These are not Buffalo Wings with Tabasco, but Tabasco really makes the wings unpleasant to eat. Use FRANK'S®, it's the original wing sauce and the best for flavor out there for Buffalo Wings. In a pinch, you can substitute Louisiana Hot Sauce or Texas Pete's or any other brand tomato-pepper based hot sauce, but once again, AVOID Tabasco!

I can get Franks in Florida... I am from the Philly area and Franks is the only way to go; I am sure you can order it online. Hooters wing sauce is lame. Tabasco is not even good hot sauce.

Everyone mentions Frank's Hot Sauce. I have had MUCH more flavorful results in ALL recipes using either Louisiana Hot Sauce or Wing Sauce, or Wingers Sauce (available only in gallons, unfortunately).

That recipe sounds great! No need for other people to hate on Tabasco though. I think the sauce is great without any Tabasco in it and Franks is a delicious, amazing sauce. However, a little tabasco added in if you are in the mood for some heat doesn't hurt.

I love hot sauces. I have also been entertained by the arguments and comparisons on this recipe. first.. i think Tabasco sauce is really gross n cant believe people pay $ for it. I do love Franks red hot sauce 'n use it on sooo much stuff... mostly the thick cuz it blends to make great dip n spread. Crystal hot sauce is good but not hot enough for me same for Louisiana hot sauce, good but not spicy...as for the suggestion of Asian Syratcha (i know spelled wrong) but eeew as far as this recipe goes. love that stuff though. and anybody that thinks Tabasco is hot is weak.

I hate to say it - but Frank's DOES make the difference. Go to your grocer and ask them to order this. It is on all grocery order lists as available - and they WILL order if a customer asks. It is well worth the extra effort to get it. I found that Grocers are more than willing to order items that are not stocked. This often gives them a new product to sell. They may not even be that aware of it - until you ask.

Texas Pete is made in NC were I am from. It is vinegar and cayenne peppers.

This was a good foundation for a sauce. I added things like honey and garlic for the "Yankee" mouths to not be offended. This sauce is not hot really. Even my mother in law could eat it. Flavor is great but look somewhere else for a Buffalo Sauce.

OK then, I'm probably breaking all the rules, but as an unrepentant chili-head I add something like Dave's Insanity Sauce along with Frank's to raise the heat level.

To those differing on Tabasco & Franks... make a batch of each at different times. See which you prefer, then you will see for yourself why it says to not use Tabasco. People unable to find Franks... every grocer has to order his products from some place, ask them to order this - it is readily available - its just that grocer's do have to order.

"Buffalo-style" wings originated at Frank and Terressa's The Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York. They used three ingredients: Cayenne Pepper sauce (Durkee RedHot), butter, and vinegar. Wings are deep-fried, then tossed in a saucepan with the heated sauce to coat.

 C. Waldo (New York) says:
After you make the sauce, how long will it last in the refrigerator?
 #130354
 Cooks.com replies:
Hi C. Waldo,

It should last at least a week in the refrigerator, but if you need to keep it longer you can bring it to a boil and keep it for another week. Alternatively, it can be frozen. If it separates in the freezer, process in a blender after thawing, just before using.

This is the first time I've made buffalo wing sauce, I usually buy the store bought kind and this time it was awful. We always always have Franks hot sauce in the the house so I tried it. I added garlic and onion powder to it, then I fried the wings, put a light coat of sauce on them and put them back in the fryer for about a minute, it gave them a perfect color and the skin crisper, then back in the wing sauce. I think that a little bit of the vinegar is a must.

I've seen negative comments on this primarily because some don't know what Franks Hot Sauce is. Here's the deal.....ANY pepper sauce will work with this recipe according to YOUR taste. If you like heat, use tobasco, heck take it up a notch and use ghost pepper sauce. The butter is a binder and the vinegar adds zing to the kick..........mix it, cook it, eat it and enjoy. You always can add to or take from a recipe to fit your taste. Find your taste zone. I personally like this one and will use it again. Good Job.

This is a good base recipe, but my friends and family like it a bit hotter. Taste in hot sauce is a personal preference. I have made my wings with Franks and Tabasco for over 20 years, and everyone raves about my wings. Also, Tabasco is one of the best selling hot sauces in the world, so the vile comments are really out-of-bounds!
