TOFFEE BAR COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Salt
1 egg yolk

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg yolk, dry ingredients. Add vanilla. Spread this on greased jelly roll pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees, reduce oven to 300 degrees and brown about 5 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over cookie immediately. When melted spread with chopped nuts. Cut in squares when cool.
