CONGO BARS 
2 sticks butter (1 c.)
1 c. brown sugar
4 eggs
2 2/3 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. chopped dates (1 pkg.)
1 c. walnuts or pecans

Cream sugar and butter in a large bowl. Mix dry ingredients. Alternate 3 big tablespoons flour with sugar and butter mixture. Add 4 eggs one at a time. Add nuts and dates last, having coated them with a small amount of flour. Bake in 10x15 pan at 325 degrees 25 minutes. Leave it cool. Put a piece of wax paper over top and invert. Cut in strips.
