ENGLISH RAISIN COOKIES 
1 c. sugar, white or brown
1 c. shortening
2 c. oatmeal
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 beaten eggs
1 c. cooked raisins
5 tbsp. juice from raisins
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Sift flour, soda and salt. Set aside. In large bowl cream together sugar and shortening. Add eggs and mix. Add juice from raisins and vanilla. Add flour, oatmeal, raisins and uts. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
