FRENCH-APPLE SQUARES 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. shortening
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 beaten egg yolk
2/3 c. milk
1 can Wilderness fruit filling

Mix flour, shortening, sugar and salt. Blend in beaten egg yolk and milk. Roll out 1/2 of the dough to fit bottom of jelly roll pan. Spread with the fruit filling and dot with butter. Cover with top crust and brush with egg white. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes. Glaze with powdered sugar icing. Makes 40 (2") squares.
