SPONGE CAKE 
5 eggs, separated
1/2 c. cold water
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla

Separate white from yolks. Beat the whites and add cream of tartar. Then beat the yolks in mixing bowl with water and sugar and beat awhile. Then sift the flour and add to egg yolk mixture and vanilla. Add baking powder and mix. The last thing is to fold in egg whites, do not beat. Bake 50 to 60 minutes at 350 degrees.
