W.'S SPAGHETTI SAUCE 
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 lg. can whole Italian tomatoes
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 med. onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 lb. sm. whole mushrooms
2 tbsp. oregano
2 tsp. basil
1 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 c. warm water
3/4 tsp. leaf thyme, rosemary, sage, black pepper
1/2 c. dry red wine

Brown the ground beef in a little good olive oil. Add the onion, garlic and green pepper and cook until soft. Add canned tomatoes, cutting into bite sized pieces. Also add tomato paste, spices, warm water and stir, bringing to a simmer. Cook for 45 minutes then add mushrooms and wine if desired. Cook for another 15 minutes or so and then serve over pasta. Even better the next day!
