ALMOND COOKIES (THUMBPRINTS) 
1 c. butter
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. almond extract
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream the butter and sugar. Add the flavoring, flour and salt. Roll into balls the size of small marbles. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with a finger. Bake in preheated oven, 350 degrees, for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool.

FROSTING:

1 c. sifted powdered sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Add cream or milk to make into a smooth paste. Frost cookies.

Many years ago we found this recipe in mother's recipe drawer. No one knows where it came from. It has been a family favorite from one generation to the next. The cookies need the frosting to taste good.
