AMERICAN CHOP SUEY | |
3 tbsp. fat 1/2 lb. veal, cut 1/2 inch cubes 1/2 c. coarsely cut onion 3/4 c. hot water 1/2 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. freshly ground peppercorns 3/4 c. coarsely chopped celery 2 tbsp. chopped green pepper 1 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch 1 1/2 tsp. molasses 1 tbsp. water 1 (5 oz.) pkg. quick cooking rice Heat fat in large frying pan. Add veal and onion. Cook until onion is golden. Stir 2 or 3 times. Add water, seasonings, and vegetables to veal mixture. Cook, covered, 15 minutes or until veal is tender. Mix cornstarch, molasses, and water. Add to veal mixture. Stirring, cook for 5 more minutes. Cook rice according to directions on rice package. Serve veal mixture with rice. |
