STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE 
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
4 to 5 tbsp. Crisco

Sift dry ingredients together. Rub in the shortening lightly. Beat egg and add with milk. Roll out 1/8-inch thick and cut with biscuit cutter. Brush over with melted butter and bake in a moderate oven.
