PEANUT BLOSSOMS 
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 unbeaten egg
1 tsp. vanilla
36 chocolate kisses
Sugar

Cream together Crisco and peanut butter, gradually add 1/2 cup sugar and brown sugar, creaming well. Add unbeaten egg and vanilla; beat well. Blend in the dry ingredients gradually. Mix thoroughly. Shape dough into balls using a teaspoonful for each. Roll balls in sugar and place on greased baking sheets. Bake in moderate oven at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Top each cookie with a chocolate kiss, pressing down firmly so cookie cracks around edge. Return to oven. Bake 2 to 5 minutes longer until golden brown. Makes 3 dozen.
