“BEST MEATLOAF” IS IN:

BEST MEATLOAF
2 eggs
1/4 cup ketchup (Hunts)
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup minced onion
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 cup soft breadcrumbs (optional)
2 to 3 lb. ground beef

Beat eggs in a large bowl. Blend in ketchup, water, minced onion, Worcestershire sauce, and salt. Mix in soft breadcrumbs if desired.

With a fork, mix ground beef with other ingredients. Mold into loaf and place on a rack in roaster or cake pan. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F for about an hour or until juices run clear and it's no longer pink inside (You may need to drain some of the liquid halfway through cooking time).

As soon as done, remove the foil and coat the top and sides of loaf with glaze (see below) and turn oven to broil. Watch it closely, and broil just until glaze starts to bubble. Remove from oven and serve.

Glaze:

ketchup (Hunts)
brown sugar
touch of honey

Mix together to form a thin paste.

Pretty good - am a big time fan of meatloaf. Added some Pepper, Hot sauce, BBQ sauce and Nando's Garlic sauce - turned out awesome :)

Halved the recipe as I only had 1 pound of hamburger. Used Italian Breadcrumbs and glazed with a nice honey BBQ sauce. The meatloaf was excellent and held together very well while still being extremely moist. Excellent recipe! Thanks for sharing!

My family loves this recipe. I've made it several times. I usually substitute the ketchup with sweet baby ray's raspberry chipotle bbq sauce. It makes an amazing glaze!!

Definitely the BEST BEST meatloaf I've ever had... so so juicy and I used the bread crumb option, too. The kids gobbled it up - so glad I doubled the recipe. I put them in loaf pans and it took longer to cook, but it was worth the wait!

This is a great recipe! I substituted Lipton onion soup mix for the minced onion, upped the water to 1/2 cup and used the breadcrumb option (plain, not Italian). I made the glaze with 1/4 cup ketchup, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and about 2 tsp. honey. The glaze is very sweet, like a bbq sauce, but it really makes the meatloaf pop. Thank you D!

Just like mom use to make..I did add a few garlic cloves with the onions and caramelized them before constructing the meatloaf, but that is simply our family's way..otherwise its a great meatloaf through and through.
Thank you!

Truly the best meatloaf I have ever made. And I have tried quite a few recipes for meatloaf from many places throughout the years... The only change I made was substituting the water for mayo for extra moisture, and WOW!! Simply delicious!
