CABBAGE CASSEROLE | |
2 c. shredded cabbage 3 tbsp. melted butter 1 tsp. dry mustard 1 egg, beaten 1 c. thinly sliced onions 1 c. toasted bread crumbs, buttered 3 tbsp. flour 1 1/2 c. milk 1 c. grated sharp cheddar cheese Salt & pepper to taste Melt butter; add flour, salt, pepper and mustard. Stir until bubbly. Add milk and beaten egg and cook until thick. In casserole dish, layer as follows: 1 layer cabbage, 1 layer onion, cream sauce and grated cheese. Repeat layers and top with buttered bread crumbs. Bake 50 minutes, covered at 375 degrees. Uncover and bake 5 minutes longer. |
