MICROWAVE HAMBURGER SOUP 
1 lb. ground chuck
2 qts. water
3 bouillon cubes
3 onions, sliced
3 carrots, sliced
1/2 c. barley
1 tbsp. salt
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 lb. can tomatoes
1/2 c. rice OR 1 c. barley

Rice is optional. Could use 1 cup barley instead.

Place meat and onions in 5 quart casserole. Microwave 5 minutes, stirring twice. Add remaining ingredients and cover. Microwave 45 minutes. Stir 3 times. Let stand, covered 30 minutes before serving.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
