SCALLOPED POTATOES 
2 lbs. hash browns, thawed
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter, melted
1/2 c. small onion, chopped
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 pint sour cream
2 c. American cheese, grated

Topping:

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted
2 c. cornflakes, crushed

Put potatoes in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over potatoes; mix well. May add some salt. Top with 1/4 cup melted butter and 2 cups crushed cornflakes. Bake at 325°F for 45 minutes.
