HYPOCRITE PIE 
1 pkg. (8 oz.) dried apples or peaches
2 1/2 c. water
3-4 tbsp. sugar
1 unbaked pie shell (9")

CUSTARD:

2 eggs, beaten
3/4 c. milk
3-4 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

In medium saucepan cook dried fruit and water until fruit is tender, about 15 minutes. During last few minutes stir in sugar to taste. Mash or puree. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Spread fruit in unbaked pastry shell. Combine custard ingredients and mix well. Pour over fruit. Bake 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees and continue baking 40 minutes more or until custard is set.
